Today’s prompt: “Hold On” video Wilson Phillips
Being chronically ill is depressing. It can be emotionally, and for some physically, crippling. At times, it makes it’s victims feel worthless, hopeless and, for some, like giving up their fight. As a result, it can lead to suicidal thoughts and end in the sufferer choosing to relieve their pain by taking their own lives.
I feel today’s prompt is a plea, by the originators of this blog challenge (see below), to all of us who suffer from chronic migraine disease and in fact any other chronic illness. It’s a plea that I feel goes like this:
When you feel so overwhelmed that you’ve lost all hope and the desire to live, say to yourself, “Hold on for one more day.” And tomorrow say it again, “Hold on for one more day.” And repeat that everyday for as long as you need to fight the desire to give up; and one day you’ll realise that you are stronger than you thought and happy that you held on.
Rather than featuring the video “Hold on”, by Wilson Phillips, I’ve decided to show Katie Perry’s video, “Firework”. When I feel down it’s one of the songs I enjoy listening to. In addition, I’ve decided to dedicated this song, Skyscraper, by Demi Lovato, to my chronic migraine disease. If I could actually sit and have a conversation with it, those are the words I would use.
